History

PAR Consultants is Canada's first independent, private, non-subsidized resource in the employee assistance area.

We are Saskatchewan owned and based. We have participated nationally in pioneering and promoting the basic philosophy that employers, working together with employees, unionized or not, can provide a service to employees and their families which benefits everybody.

In Saskatchewan, we have led the way in assisting public and private workplaces with EFAP'S since 1974. Since then we have been involved with nearly every type of business and industry in the province. This varied experience has allowed us to identify the essential ingredients of EFAP's such as confidentiality and voluntarism and to learn about the special program needs of workplaces that have shift work and other stress producing characteristics.

Initially, Saskatchewan was a special challenge due to the geographic remoteness of some employees and family members. In the early years fewer counselling resources were available. One of the needs was to ensure the quality of the counselling resource. To meet this need, experienced counsellors began to make regular trips to regions throughout this vast province twelve months a year. This pioneering service has been developed and refined over time, and continues.

Our wide range of experience with a great variety of programs has supplied us with a high skill level to manage and administer programs expertly. In addition, PAR Consultants has a range of resources such as specially designed software for tracking program activity and producing reports as well as a large number of counselling and program specialists.
